My weekly summary with the highlights of what’s on in Perth, Western Australia for kids from Monday 26 March to Sunday 1 April 2007. Some things are free, some cost money and some you will need to book tickets for. Click on the links for more info.
This is a summary of the ‘what’s on this week‘ posted at Enjoy Perth, though with a few additions. Please also see ‘What’s on in Perth in March 2007‘, which lists the major events this month (April coming soon).
I think this week wins for most festivals in one weekend!!! Wow, and so much is free!
Festivals etc:
Subiaco’s Wild West Comedy Festival is on and on Saturday and Sunday from 5.30pm, enjoy the free Poets Picnic at Subiaco Arts Centre (bring a picnic), with the kids.
Kalamunda Show at Kostera Oval from 5pm on Friday 30 and 10am to 10pm on Saturday 31 March. Fireworks on both nights, and regular show stuff!
Medieval Fayre at Supreme Court Gardens in Perth on Saturday from 10am to 4pm, cheap entry.
Joondalup Festival is held on Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April 2007 in the CBD of Joondalup from midday till 9pm/8pm. Live music, street performers, parade, kids activities, fireworks, rides and more!
Minnawarra Festival (arts and crafts, rides, animals, entertainment) is held on Saturday and Sunday in Armadale.
Fremantle Children’s Fiesta is on at Samson Park from 10am to 4pm. Many, many free activities, for children up to 12.
The Autumn River Festival is held at Garvey Park in Belmont and Riverside Gardens in Bayswater and is a great free family event!
South Perth Fiesta is on till 1 April 2007, Mends St Carnivale is on Sunday!
The HBF Telethon Toddle is on at Burswood Parklands on Sunday.
Perth Sun Fair is all about sustainable living, and held at the Oak Lawn at UWA on Sunday from 9am to 5pm, gold coin donation entry, under 16 free.
Ballajura Rotary Annual Fair is held at Kingfisher Park on Sunday from 10am.
Performing Arts:
Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s The Little Prince (5 to 15 yo) is on in Fremantle on Saturday 31 March and Thursday 5 to Saturday 21 April 2007.
Catch The China Acrobatic Troupe at Challenge Stadium on 31 March 2007
Subiaco’s Wild West Comedy Festival, 21 March to 1 April 2007.
The Impact World Tour comes to Perth with shows all over the metro area in March, and all free (it’s sponsored by local businesses, individuals and churches), sharing a positive message of hope and destiny.

Music:
Jazz in the Park in Stirk Park, Kalamunda from 6pm on Thursdays.
WA Youth Orchestra Babies Proms is happening at WAAPA on Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April 2007.
Jazz in the Park is being held in Claremont Park on Saturday from 2 to 5pm, a free Town of Claremont event.
Free blues n roots music around Fremantle on Saturday and Sunday, as part of the ‘Freo Blues n Roots Fringe Festival’. Stages at Gino’s, the train station, in 3 CAT busses(!) and on a prawn trawler in the harbour at Cicerello’s!!! I can vouch more the greatness of many of the acts, especially the ones on the prawn trailer!
Sabroson perform latin/funk/jazz/hip-hop for Kulcha in the Park at Altone Park Rec Centre in Beechboro on Saturday from 3.30pm, free!
WAAPA In The Park is held in Ron Stone Park at ECU Mt Lawley from 7pm on Saturday, free family entertainment!
Free music every Sunday: Freo Arts Centre courtyard music, and Sunset@Subi in Subiaco.
Other:
The ASICS Bridges Fun Run is happening from 7.30am from Langley Park in South Perth on Sunday.
The World’s Biggest Playgroup Day is held at Whiteman Park on Wednesday from 10am to 2pm.
The Fremantle Village Art Markets are held from 10am to 5.30pm every Thursday until the end of April.
Joondalup Sunset Markets are held from 6pm on Friday. From 7pm there is free music on Reid Promenade.
The Mandjar Markets are held at the Waterfront in Mandurah every Sunday from 1 to 5pm until the end of April.
